I was having an issue with my NAS not reconnecting after a restart of my iMac. When it is not reconnected, my backup utility does not run because it can’t see the folders to backup.
As I was playing with Mac’s Automator utility, I found a very easy way to create an automated workflow/application that basically connects to my NAS and opens the relevant folders that the backup utility needs. I’m running the application everytime I log back into the system so that the folders are available when my backup runs later in the night.
The image below shows the steps: get the servers (mapping their full path using the afp protocol) and then connecting the servers. Simple and does exactly what I needed. I saved this as an ‘application’ (instead of a workflow) and then added it to my Login items on my main user account.
